In 2012, the Vermont Legislature passed Act 142, the Vermont Working Lands Enterprise Initiative which created the structure for management and investment of state funding into agricultural and forestry based businesses. Over the last 10 years, farm and forest businesses from all across the state have leveraged new funding to create more than 500 new jobs, generate tens of millions in new economic activity, strengthen local supply chains, and invest in the future of working lands.
The Working Lands Coalition would like to celebrate this remarkable milestone by hosting a 10 Year Anniversary Celebration, and you’re invited! Please join with fellow working lands champions, legislators, coalition members, grantees, and others and enjoy food, music, and community.
The Vermont Working Lands Coalition (WLC) represents the Vermont Working Landscape Partnership made up of nearly 1,000 individuals and organizations who together supported the legislation and encourages legislators to prioritize funding each year. WLC members include Cabot Creamery Cooperative, Center for an Agricultural Economy, NOFA Vermont, Preservation Trust of Vermont, Shelburne Farms, Vermont Association of Conservation Districts, Vermont Association of Planning and Development Agencies, Vermont Community Loan Fund, Vermont Council on Rural Development, Vermont Farm Bureau, Vermont Land Trust, Vermont Natural Resoruces Council, Vermont Sustainable Jobs Fund and Farm to Plate, Vermont Wood Works Council, Vermont Woodlands Association, and the Woodstock Foundation.
