Questions About the Affordable Heat Act? Get Them Answered!

February 3, 2023 @ 12:00 pm - 1:00 pm

Free

The Affordable Heat Act (S.5) is getting hearings in the Senate and legislative leaders have made clear that this policy is a priority to advance this session. We agree! How we heat and cool our homes is Vermont’s second largest contributor to planet-warming. The Affordable Heat Act aims to cut energy costs, reduce carbon and support Vermont’s fossil fuel heating providers in delivering cleaner, more affordable, healthier, local options to help Vermonters stay warm.

In this webinar, get a brief, 10-minute overview of the core components of the policy; what it is intended to deliver and by when; and how it aims to meet essential goals regarding equity, affordability and climate accountability – all while we help Vermonters afford and access cleaner heat measures as we accelerate an essential, just energy transition. Then stay for ~45 minutes of Q&A.

We know there is tremendous interest in climate action in Vermont. The Affordable Heat Act would be the biggest step forward to deliver on long-overdue action, if it advances. We will need all hands-on-deck to successfully move it over the finish line this session, though.

Join ActOnClimateVT members on Friday, February 3rd at noon via Zoom to learn more, get your questions answered and offer your thoughts on how we can collectively collaborate to advance a strong, climate accountable and equitable policy. Register to join us here.
