VECAN Lunch and Learn: Exploring the Climate Opportunity in Federal Stimulus Dollars

At our April 19th Lunch and Learn, we explored the parameters and potential climate possibilities of federal relief dollars coming into Vermont, featuring staff from Vermont’s Congressional Delegation. 

Tom Berry of Senator Patrick Leahy’s Office gave an overview of the appropriations process in the Senate. Rebecca Ellis of Congressman Peter Welch’s Office then shared details about what is in the American Rescue Plan (find a helpful overview from the National Conference of State Legislatures), including an approximate allocation of revenues Vermont municipalities can anticipate rolling into their communities and another helpful, high-level overview provided by Rebecca Ellis. Finally, Haley Pero of Senator Bernie Sanders’ Office discussed plans for what President Biden hopes to include in an infrastructure & jobs package that will be considered in Congress.
